NOTES FROM OUR COMMUNITY BULLY PREVENTION SEMINAR

Please practice the skills you learned at home for them to become more natural to your child. Bonus – they may help with sibling issues and certain attitudes at home!

Remind them of their UNIQUE value and why they don’t need to care about the negative things people have to say to or about them.
Provide opportunities for your child to practice the bully stare. This works great with a sibling. If no other child is present parents can randomly declare “BULLY” to invoke the bully stare.
If a “name game” breaks out, remind them it’s optional to play ball and the merits of walking away. You can also coach the “SO” response.
When they roll their eyes (you know they will) remind them “that belongs to the bully,” not to you.
When they whine or tattletale, remind them about reporting – Who, What, When, Where, Why – AND most importantly review the PIC of bullying – Power imbalance, Intentional, Continuous/Repeated

And finally, PLEASE JOIN US to help your student learn SCHOOL-SAFE self-defenses! These self-defenses don’t require your student to touch anyone, which makes them school-safe, AND they allow your student to get out of certain physical situations.

Being bullied, and not knowing how to handle it, is considered an Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE). ACEs are potentially traumatic events that can have negative, lasting effects on a person’s development, the way they interact with others, and how they perform in school.

With mental health issues, especially in children, at an all-time high and still rising the Pilsung ATA Bully Prevention Program is designed to focus on the children being targeted, not the bullies. Using the Clemson University backed Olweus Bully Prevention Program, we focus on giving children the tools and skills necessary to handle bullying in a safe and healthy way.
